ASX Sharemarket News

In ASX sharemarket news, Westpac (ASX: WBC) has announced its FY19 result to the market.

The bank reported that statutory net profit dropped by 16% to $6.78 billion. Its cash net profit fell 15% to $6.85 billion. Excluding Royal Commission issues, cash earnings still declined by 4%.

To make sure it has enough capital to meet APRA’s requirements and any other events, Westpac is raising $2.5 billion.

But, due to the capital raising and fall in profit, the Westpac Board decided to cut the final dividend by 15% to 80 cents per share.
