Bob Desmond

This is where a quote should be

Bob Desmond, CFA is a seasoned investor in global markets and has been refining his quality growth process for more than 29 years. Zimbabwean born, Bob has lived and worked in Africa, the UK and Australia. He started his career with Anglo American and Fleming Martin in Africa, before joining Seilern Investment Management in London in 2002 as a Portfolio Manager and Head of Research. He joined Claremont Global in 2012 as Senior Research Analyst and in 2017 was appointed Head of Claremont Global and co-Portfolio Manager. Bob leads Claremont with an egalitarian approach, empowering the team to individually play to their strengths within a highly collaborative environment. He holds a BA in Politics and Economics from the University of West Australia and is a CFA Charterholder.

Claremont Global is a boutique fund manager located in Sydney, Australia. They run a high-conviction, fundamental strategy and only invest in international equities.

Their evidence-based and rigorous bottom-up approach allows them to identify some of the world’s best companies. If these businesses satisfy their specific criteria and strict valuation methodology, the team will consider investing in the business for the long term.

Their investment philosophy can be described as buying quality growth businesses at a reasonable price and has the following key attributes:

  • explicit exclusion of leveraged, commoditised and regulated areas of the market – including banks, resources and utilities;
  • companies whose superior earnings growth drives intrinsic value, whilst their inherent quality (i.e., high margins,
  • strong balance sheets and cash flow) helps to protect client capital in difficult markets;
    a strong value discipline that ensures investment is only made at a discount to intrinsic value.
Dang it! Usually, my investing philosophy would be found here. While you wait, consider take a free investing course on Rask.
